Altagrid is a technical advisory and engineering services firm focused on battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid interconnection strategy, and large-load power coordination.

We support developers, IPPs, and EPCs across the United States in delivering multi-GWh storage projects and complex power infrastructure programs. Our work spans early-stage feasibility through layout development, single-line diagrams, electrical studies coordination, and data center power integration.

We are building a high-credibility, technically rigorous firm designed for repeat, long-term client partnerships — not transactional consulting.

Role Overview

Altagrid is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to lead revenue growth, client expansion, and strategic account management.

This role is responsible for:

  • Growing revenue from existing clients

  • Winning new repeat-business customers

  • Building long-term partnerships with developers, IPPs, and EPCs

  • Positioning Altagrid as a preferred technical partner for multi-project portfolios

This is not a transactional sales role. It is a relationship-driven, strategic role focused on building durable revenue streams and expanding wallet share across client portfolios.

The ideal candidate has direct experience selling technical or engineering services to renewable energy developers, IPPs, or EPC firms and already maintains strong industry relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute Altagrid’s national business development strategy

  • Identify target clients with repeat project pipelines

  • Build multi-year account growth plans for key customers

  • Expand service penetration across client portfolios

Account Management & Expansion

  • Own executive-level relationships with existing clients

  • Drive upsell and cross-sell opportunities (layouts, SLDs, studies coordination, data center support)

  • Lead commercial negotiations and proposal strategy

  • Maintain high client satisfaction and retention

New Client Acquisition

  • Leverage existing relationships to originate opportunities

  • Prospect developers, IPPs, and EPCs aligned with Altagrid’s technical focus

  • Close new master service agreements and portfolio-level engagements

  • Position Altagrid for preferred vendor status

Market Intelligence & Positioning

  • Track industry trends in BESS deployment, data center load growth, and interconnection reform

  • Provide market feedback to shape service offerings

  • Represent Altagrid at industry events and conferences

Revenue Leadership

  • Own revenue targets and pipeline forecasting

  • Build repeatable BD processes and CRM discipline

  • Work directly with executive leadership to scale the firm

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 10+ years in renewable energy business development, sales, or account management

  • Direct experience selling engineering, technical advisory, or project development services to:

    • IPPs

    • Utility-scale developers

    • EPC firms

  • Demonstrated track record of closing multi-project or portfolio-level agreements

  • Strong understanding of utility-scale solar and/or BESS project lifecycle

Strongly Preferred

  • Existing relationships with active U.S. developers, IPPs, or EPC firms

  • Experience structuring MSAs and repeat-service agreements
